Serenia (maropitant citrate) The injection solution is indicated for the prevention and treatment of acute vomiting in dogs aged 8 weeks and older, and for the treatment of vomiting in cats aged 16 weeks and older.


Maropitant tablets are indicated for the prevention and treatment of acute vomiting in dogs aged 8 weeks and older, as well as for the prevention of vomiting due to motor disease in dogs aged 16 weeks and older.

INJECTIVE (dogs and cats)


For the prevention of acute vomiting in dogs 8 weeks and older, and for the treatment of vomiting in cats 16 weeks and older.


Administration of SERIOUS Subcutaneous injection solution at 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) equal to 1 ml/10kg (1 ml/22 lb) body weight once a day for 5 consecutive days. Using a chilled product may reduce the painful reaction associated with the injection.


For dogs, the CERENIA Injection Solution can be used interchangeably with CERENIA tablets for a single daily dose to prevent acute vomiting. 


Tablets (for dogs only)


To prevent acute vomiting in dogs 8 weeks or older.

Take SERENA tablets orally at a minimum dose of 2 mg/kg (0.9 mg/lb) of body weight once a day for 5 consecutive days.


Prevention of Acute Vomiting

Minimum 2 mg/kg Dosage BW 


Maropitant Contraindications tablets can be used interchangeably with CERENIA solution for single daily dosing to prevent acute vomiting.


To prevent vomiting due to motion sickness in dogs 16 weeks and older.

Take the SERENIA tablets orally at a minimum dose of 8 mg/kg (3.6 mg/lb) of body weight once a day for 2 consecutive days. Dogs should starve 1 hour before taking SERION tablets. Apply CERENIA tablets 2 hours prior to travel.


Prevent vomiting due to motor disease.

CRITICAL SAFETY INFORMATION

The safe use of CERENIA maropitant has not been evaluated in dogs or cats used for breeding, pregnant or nursing bitches, or queens. The safe use of CERENIA has not been evaluated in patients with gastrointestinal obstruction or in patients who have taken toxins. Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. CERENIA injection is recommended for dogs 8 weeks and older for the prevention and treatment of acute vomiting and for cats 16 weeks and older for the treatment of vomiting. CERENIA pills are recommended for dogs 8 weeks and older for the prevention and treatment of acute vomiting and for dogs 16 weeks and older for the prevention of vomiting due to motor disease. The most common side effects observed in dogs and cats taking CERENIA tablets are pain/vocalization (injected), depression/blockage, anorexia, anaphylaxis, ataxia, convulsions and hypersalivation as well as vomiting.
